Securing our Students In 2004, nearly 500 of the 8,000 registered students left our school because they could not afford to stay – and JSU could not afford to help them. The need for a significant endowment of student scholarships has never been greater. Retaining our Faculty Jackson State does not have a single endowed faculty chair or fellowship. An endowed chair would significantly relieve the University budget, which would allow us to pay better salaries and retain our faculty.
